This past Sunday was International Women's Day, and I found myself down a rabbit hole watching clips of Omarosa. Don't ask me how I got there.

Have you seen the one where she's on a couch across from Bethany Frankel and she says: "It's different for you and I. I am an African-American woman. You get to walk around and be mediocre and still get rewarded with things. We have to be exceptional to get anything." It’s actually hilarious if you haven’t seen it, but I digress.

We all know the twice as good saying. (Queue the Scandal clip)

My mind didn’t go to the list of reasons the playing field is uneven (it is, and the receipts are CVS long). My mind went straight to rest.

Especially as entrepreneurs, rest feels so counterproductive.

How can you be twice as good or three or four times as good if you're not grinding?

How do you compete on an uneven field if you're not outworking everyone else?

But then I also think about Anifa pausing production at Hanifa. I think about the wave of women building soft lives on purpose. So I hypothesize that this is a scheme that Todd set up! One where the seemingly logical response to an uneven playing field is to work yourself into the ground trying to level it.

There's a Maya Angelou quote about the primary function of racism being to keep you distracted. Exhausted people don't dream. Exhausted people don't build the thing that changes the game.

What if the grind isn't the path? What if it's the trap?

I know that my best ideas, my best work comes when I'm rested. When my mind has had the freedom to make new connections. To dream. To create. To play.

I'm genuinely curious what we could build from a place of rest and restoration instead of grind and extraction. This is actually part of what I'm building with the Guava Founder Circle, it’s a 90-day program for a small cohort of founders working toward real revenue milestones, together. Not through more hustle, but through community, strategy, and showing up for each other. If that sounds like what you need right now, reply and tell me where you are. I'd love to talk.

IDK, it's 70 degrees in Brooklyn after literally the coldest winter ever. Maybe I'm just in a good mood. But I do want to know, what do you do to be your most rested, creative self? What did you create from that place? How do you tap back into it when you have to grind?

Reply and tell me so I'm not just typing into the void over here.
